Yao Pey Yong
Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Mr Yao Pey Yong is a consultant vascular surgeon based at the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. His practice covers the whole spectrum of vascular diseases, including both arterial and venous work. Within his NHS practice, he has a weekly operating list treating patients with varicose veins.

He graduated from the University of Glasgow and subsequently spent 3 years undertaking a Masters degree in vascular research in East Midlands before obtaining his higher surgical training in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery.

Mr Yong is also an accredited practitioner in vascular ultrasound after spending a year doing a post-graduate certificate at the University of Leeds to complement his surgical practice. He is currently the lead for arteriovenous fistula at his NHS Trust where he performs day case surgery for patients needing dialysis.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland. He enjoys teaching and currently an active faculty member of the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
